This Easy Enchilada Sauce can be used for many of your favorite Mexican dishes. No need to buy store bought sauces containing preservatives and mystery ingredients!


1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
10 Roma or Plum tomatoes, chopped & crushed.
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
2 tsp dried cilantro
1 tsp oregano
Sea salt, to taste.
1 tsp sugar
1 splash balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp GF all purpose flour

Optional, 1 small can or 1-2 fresh green chiles, seeded & diced.


Heat olive oil in a sauce pan.
Sauté onion until translucent.
Add garlic.
Add chili powder, stir well.
Add flour, stir another minute.
Add chopped tomatoes.
Using a potato masher, crush tomatoes in pot with other ingredients.
Add cumin, sugar, balsamic, cilantro & oregano.
Stir well then decrease temperature on the stove top.
Simmer on medium-low heat for 15 minutes.
Add additional cumin, chili powder & sea salt to taste.

If using green chiles, add when adding garlic.
